Experimental Psychology Laboratory
... it predominantly deals with the experimental research of fundamental emotional, cognitive, perceptive and psychophysiological processes, and individual differences in the course of these processes. It is part of the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka, and the members of the Department of Psychology are engaged in its work, but so are the other scientists with whom we collaborate in research projects. This includes collaborators from Italy, the Netherlands and Serbia.
Undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students at the Department of Psychology are included in the work of the Laboratory, so the research carried out there has so far been the basis for a number of graduate and doctoral papers.
Although the need for such a laboratory was recognized in 2004, when the first provisional laboratory for measuring psychophysiological parameters was set up at the premises of the Rectorate of the University of Rijeka, the Experimental Psychology Laboratory was formally established in 2011, when a designated space was set up for it at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka, within the University Campus.
Placed within two rooms and with a test lab technician who is working there, the laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for presentation of various visual, auditory and olfactory stimuli, as well as for measuring behavioral and physiological parameters such as reaction time, eye movement, cardiovascular parameters (continuous blood pressure measurement, HF- HRV, vasoconstriction), electrodermal activation, body temperature, breathing and others.
