Marko Tončić is an assistant professor at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Rijeka. He teaches courses in methodology and statistics at undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels. He is the course instructor for Multivariate Statistics and Practicum in Test Construction and Use at the graduate program in psychology, as well as Statistics in the cognitive science program. He is a member of the Laboratory for Experimental Psychology and the Center for the Study of Mind and Behavior.
His research interests are focused on two main areas. The first is affective dynamics, specifically how affect (moods and emotions) varies over time, what determines this dynamic (variability, physiological basis, interindividual differences), and how this variation reflects on well-being. These topics require less conventional approaches to modeling and analyzing data, often involving somewhat complex statistical methods. The second area of interest is closely related to the first and involves data analysis (modeling), particularly the modeling of longitudinal processes and measurement in a broader sense.
