IMG 1414Nermina Mehić teaches courses in the fields of social psychology and research methodology. She is currently involved in the research project Processes and Outcomes of Similarity in Psychological Characteristics Between Romantic Partners (University of Rijeka Research Grants; project associate; principal investigator: Prof. Igor Kardum, PhD).

Her previous research interests have primarily focused on similarity between romantic partners across various psychological characteristics, with an emphasis on personality traits. Her research has addressed not only the level of partner similarity, but also the mechanisms that lead to it, as well as certain outcomes, such as relationship satisfaction and partner retention strategies.

In addition, she is interested in various processes and mechanisms in romantic relationships aimed at relationship maintenance, specific features of long-distance relationships, changes in social cognition related to the initiation and maintenance of romantic relationships, as well as those that occur following relationship dissolution. Beyond romantic relationships, she is also interested in the study of other types of close relationships, such as friendships and parent–child relationships.
